My relationship to art-making ...
The process of art-making has become an essential part of my personal/spiritual journey and professional offering. Throughout my life, my inner world has continually demanded attention and expression. I found that art provided me with an incredible container for my soul's voice. It has given me a way to process, digest and integrate a whole range of feelings and sensations that so often emerge during transformative processes, without judgment or censorship. I see art as a process in movement that expands, transforms, anchors and informs.
Over the years, I have discovered just how alive and dynamic one's relationship to image-making can be. So many times, in the midst of this process, I've witnessed unexpected worlds emerging within me. Whether they have emerged through color, image, sound, or movement, they've brought countless new openings, greater spaciousness, and a much deeper connection to my body, self, other, and to life as a whole. I find that art offers grounding and an embodied anchor for the journey of life itself.
Some of my favorite mediums include painting (mostly pastel and water colors), mask making, clay sculpture, and collage. Combining painting, collage work and journaling, has provided me with a particularly powerful vessel for deep inner work. Creative expression allows me to stay truly alive and awake in the world, and in an authentic connection to myself and Spirit. In the space I create with others through art making, my intention is to offer an invitation, a sense of discovery and a sacred space for the journey into the mystery of the human psyche/Soul and it's expression.
